Identifying Information

I am a Financial Adviser and I provide regulated financial advice on behalf of Stainton & Co. Limited. Stainton & Co. is an Authorised Body registered on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR). I am authorised to provide regulated financial advice to you under Stainton & Co. Limited.

Nature and Scope of the Advice

I provide financial advice on general insurance products only, including a wide range of commercial and domestic insurance solutions from New Zealand and overseas insurers.

When providing advice, I will consider:

  • the insurance products you currently hold

  • any additional or alternative insurance products you may need

  • your risk appetite and business activities

  • your budget and financial position

  • appropriate risk-management practices

If I recommend changes to the insurance products you currently hold, I will explain the key differences, benefits, and any material implications.

Reliability History

Neither Stainton & Co. Limited nor I have been subject to any reliability events.

A “reliability event” includes regulatory action, criminal convictions, civil proceedings, or recent bankruptcy — anything that might reasonably influence your decision to seek advice from me.

Fees and Expenses

If you choose to proceed with the insurance I arrange, a fee for implementing that advice may be charged, depending on the work involved.

  • Any fee will be confirmed in writing prior to placing cover.

  • Fees will appear as a separate line item on your invoice (or be incorporated into premium-funding instalments if applicable).

  • Third-party fees such as credit-card processing fees may also apply and will be disclosed when relevant.

  • A full breakdown of any fees will be included in the final disclosure information that accompanies your invoice.

Conflicts of Interest and Incentives

When I arrange insurance for you, the insurer may pay a commission to Stainton & Co. The commission amount varies depending on the insurer and product.

  • Most insurance products: 10–30% of company premium

  • Natural disaster premiums: 5–10%

I will disclose exact commission amounts when I present my specific recommendations.

To ensure my advice is not influenced by commissions, Stainton & Co. maintains its own internal compliance framework, including adviser training, annual reviews, and conflict-of-interest controls.

All information discussed with you is available in writing.
